"Unconventional polarization is a new field which has generated an increasing scientific and technological interest around the world. It has found applications in high resolution imaging, plasmonic and nanoparticle manipulation. However, non-experimental work on its use on polarimetry has been reported, being the only existing one of purely theoretical character. In this thesis, the Mueller matrices associated to air, to a half-wave plate and to a quarter-wave plate retarders, are determined by applying the relationships reported by Töppel et al., 2014 and the relationships obtained by the ideal polarimetric arrangement (IPA), reported by Atondo-Rubio et al., 2004. Results are reported by using both, images, and the spatial average symmetry (SAS), which show to be consistent with the expected responses. To our knowledge, this is the first study associated to the experimental determination of the Mueller matrix of transparent objects under open space conditions, using the classical entangled azimuthal polarization state as a single incident polarization state."
